The RIMANSI network of microinsurance mutual benefit associations held their first General Assembly last March 30, 2015 at the Legend Villas in Mandaluyong City to formally launch the establishment of the Microinsurance MBA Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MiMAP).  The gathering was attended by representatives from the association members namely: CARD-MRI, CARD MBA, USWAG, ASKI-MBA, KDCFI, PALFSI, KCCDFI MBA, PBC MBA, KMBA, 4K-MBA, KGI MBA, QPI MBA, and SEDP MBA.

In his welcome address, Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip, RIMANSI Chairman Emeritus, welcomed the participants to the momentous occasion of the establishment of the MiMAP on RIMANSI’s 10th year. Dr. Alip highlighted RIMANSI’s humble beginnings of providing risk insurance to more Filipinos through replication of CARD MBA’s business model. From just one MBA in 1999, the simple dream gave birth to 15 Mi-MBA partner-members in the Philippines that provide risk protection services to more than 2.5 million members, with at least 10 million lives insured and empowerment to numerous communities. The transformation of RIMANSI from a microinsurance resource center into a formal Microinsurance MBA Association is geared towards financial inclusion, part of its vision to reach 12 million members with 48 million individuals covered by  microinsurance by 2024.

Emphasizing the transformation RIMANSI has undergone for the past ten years of continuous learning and innovation, May Dawat, RIMANSI President, together with its Board, management, Secretariat, and its Mi-MBA partners remain optimistic that MiMAP and microinsurance providers will protect more lives and uplift more communities from poverty in the future. She ended with a strong commitment that the association’s mission shall be achieved because the association “owes this to the country and to the future generation[s]”.
