RIMANSI, in partnership with the Insurance Commission (IC), facilitated the Governance and AMLA Workshop last June 10 — 11, 2015 at the New Horizon Hotel in Mandaluyong City. 34 participants, composed of newly-elected Board of Trustees, as well as officers and staff of eight participating Mi-MBAs attended the training workshop.

The training-workshop, jointly organized by IC and RIMANSI, aimed to enhance the capacity of Mi-MBAs in understanding the governance aspect of the association that operates alongside the principles of mutuality and cooperation. This also serves as compliance to IC-mandated training on corporate governance principles and leading practices for newly-elected Board members.

The workshop revolved around seven main governance concepts. Insurance Commission representatives, headed by Deputy Commissioner Vida Chiong, with Ms. Aileen Lamzon, Ms. Ester Abrazado, and Atty. Jorge Brania, and RIMANSI, which include Mr. Camilo Casals, Mr. Jun Jay Perez, and Mr. Pedro Benedicto, discussed the concepts and practice of good governance, microinsurance, and mutuality. The discussions were supported by first-hand experiences of three former Board of Trustees officers from various Mi-MBAs and some group activities for application of the concepts.

Future governance workshops and other training shall be posted in the RIMANSI website. For questions and assistance, interested parties can get in touch with the Secretariat.
