Samar and Leyte—Sagip Negosyo made its official launch as part of the PREMIUM Caravan on January 23 of 2018 although product roll out had already begun in May of 2017 for PREMIUM’s cohort 01 and cohort 02 graduates, just shortly after its development in March of the same year. The product was sold at the time to coincide with the graduation of the sari-sari store owner beneficiaries.

Sagip Negosyo is a non-life calamity microinsurance product designed to improve resiliency of sari-sari store owners from calamities, namely: typhoon, flood and fire. It was developed with the PREMIUM Project Product Design and Development Team (PDDT) composed of CARD Pioneer Microinsurance, Inc.
(CPMI), CARD MRI Insurance Agency, Inc. (CaMIA), CARD Inc., Microventures Foundation (MVF) or Hapinoy, and MiMAP (RIMANSI) with the support of Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC).

Since its deployment, several orientation sessions on Sagip Negosyo’s features and key processes were conducted among people and organizations involved in the implementation of the product
- From December 2017 to January 2018, an orientation of 41 (80% women) Microinsurance Coordinators, Microinsurance Supervisors and Unit Managers of CARD MRI in Cohort 1 and 2 areas was conducted on implementation of Sagip Negosyo.
- On April 21, orientation workshop on Sagip Negosyo was conducted for 4 BizMo Field Staff
- On June 9 2018, there was an orientation of 35 Unit Managers and Account Officers in the morning and an orientation of 24 Microinsurance Supervisors and Microinsurance Coordinators for the afternoon session.
As of the first half of the year, total of 403 sari-sari store owners availed Sagip Negosyo wherein 15 (93% women) of them received a total of PhP30,750 claims due to store damages caused by Typhoon Urduja in December 2017.
